How mindful are you when you prepare for rest and go to bed? Our favorite way to sleep is under the stars on a cool ground, but what about when the reflection isn't around you, but in you?
It feels instinctive to lie in bed and overanalyze and criticize every moment of the day we just had. By being more mindful and kind as we prepare to close the end of the day can not only elevate anxiety and help with sleep, but it prepares us for a day of gratitude and opportunity upon waking.
Try this meditation tonight to see if it releases any anxiety and fills your heart with more gratitude -- First honor and thank yourself for showing up for the day. Congratulate yourself for doing the best you could. We don't always get it right and not every day is perfect; but today was exactly as it should be for us to continue to grow.
Take a deep breath in as you think about all of the things that support you. Your family. Friends. The exact bed you are lying on.
As you exhale release anything that is not supporting you.
Take another deep breath in and find one thing to be grateful for from today. Maybe it was a meal. Perhaps it was the ability to fill up your gas tank without having to worry about your bank account. Maybe it is your job. Or simply the sun for being out.
As you exhale, send that gratitude out into the World.
Upon your next inhale find another thing to be grateful for.
And as you exhale, send that gratitude out into the World again.
Continue to practice deep breathing for a few more rounds -- whatever seems organic.
Place your hand on your heart and thank it for allowing you to be Human.
